comprising: an Italian walnut and lightwood marquetry casket with landscapes and figures, probably Lombardi; a probably French burr walnut and brass inlaid casket decorated with birds, sphinxes and a vase within scrolling foliage, circa 1830; a probably French steel mounted letter box; and a Tirolean octagonal lightwood box with a landscape miniature on top, mid 19th century

Condition

All caskets in overall good condition. An Italian walnut and lightwood marquetry casket, 11.5cm. high, 26cm. wide, 14cm. deep: One key. To open: push/ move/pull out the long front side to the right. Underside with label reading 'J. Schauer, Marchand, Bijoutier, Quincaillier, no. 1152' A probably French burr walnut and brass inlaid casket, 12.5cm. high, 26.5cm. wide, 12.5cm. deep: generally with very minor old marks and scratches consistent with age and use, one brass inlay lifting towards the center of the top, front with construction bump, interior aluminium backing with some flaking and losses. A probably French steel mounted letter box, 12.5cm. high, 29.5cm. wide, 24cm. deep: with old marks and scratches consistent with age and use, steel slightly tarnished throughout, one key. A Tirolean octagonal lightwood box, 8cm. high, 40cm. wide, 31cm. deep: old marks and scratches throughout, consistent with age and use. Some of the trimming with loose ends, and some of the golden linings on the edges of the casket are loose, others missing (one bottom front left, one next to the right side front foot and another towards the back edge). Once casket is locked, it does not appear to be entirely shut (there is a very small gap), however the casket is securely locked. Three feet missing, casket remains stable.
