Condition

The canvas is not lined. The stretcher is slightly curved. There is a milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal no evidence of retouching. There are some small areas of stable paint shrinkage in the black pigment towards the centre of the left edge and towards the lower right quadrant. There are a few small superficial scratches in places, notably along the centre and the right parts of the upper edge, in the upper left quadrant and to the centre of the lower edge. The varnish appears to have slightly yellowed in places. Impasto is nice and well preserved. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall very good condition.
