The complete portfolio, comprising 21 intaglios, 1960, all but three are signed in pencil and numbered 35/50 (total edition includes 12 artist's proofs), on Rives wove paper, also numbered on the Acknowledgements page, with the title page and publisher's note, printed by Andersen-Lamp, Brooklyn, published by Morris Gallery, New York, contained in the original cloth-covered portfolio box (21 prints)

Condition

The portfolio box with significant wear, the fabric has discolored torn. 13 of the prints were previously matted and hinged, each with uneven mat- and light-stain and backboard stain on the verso. Nine prints with time-stain at sheet edges, four with damp-stain and nine with backboard stain. Several with a few fox marks or tiny creases and tears to the deckle at bottom sheet edge. Loose sheets pale discoloration at sheet edges, some minor surface soiling and soft handling creases.

Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
