相關資料

The identification of the sitter as Mrs Howell derives from an old inscription on the reverse of the frame. Mrs Howell was the daughter of Sir Nicholas and Lady Crisp and the mother of Anne Robinson, who married James Sotheby.

In later times, the portrait was identified as depicting Louise de Kérouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth. The sitter's features do not correspond with those of accepted portraits of the Duchess.
