Condition

This warm-toned photograph is in generally excellent condition. When examined closely in raking light, the following are visible: scattered thin scratches that do not appear to break the emulsion; and several small matte areas of varying sizes, especially in the lower portion of the image. The mount is age-darkened and faintly soiled overall. There is a 2-3/4-inch tear on the left side which has been reinforced with tape on the reverse. There is a small crease to the mount near the upper left edge of the photograph. There is a brown stain in the upper left corner on the front of the mount; 2 clusters of pinpoint-sized impressions near the lower left and right edges of the mount; and a minor abrasion near the lower center edge. The mount corners are worn. A few minor abrasions are visible on the reverse of the mount. The notations in an unidentified hand in pencil are as follows: 'Gingerbread 19th c.'; '434:30:34' twice; 'LAM 36.14'; and '83.' '41.33' is written in red pencil and '314' in green crayon.
