This photograph is in generally excellent condition. When examined closely in raking light, the following are visible: faint hairline scratches that do not appear to break the emulsion, mostly in the sky area, possibly a result of mounting; a few other barely discernible small scratches that might break the emulsion in the upper left quadrant; and a small matte area in the upper left quadrant. None of these detract from the overall fine appearance of this print. Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. Our dating of this print is based upon the authors' assessment of the use dates of stamp 11 on the reverse of the mount: 1973 through 1977.
