Condition

Overall the condition of the relief is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are a few chips, notably at the back of Christ's head on the proper left side, and to the crown of thorns at the top. There is some wear to the polychromy, including stable craquelure, in particular to the skin tones. It appears that some of the polychromy has been refreshed, including to the crown of thorns. There is a small chip to the polychromy at Christ's chest. There are losses to some of the thorns in the crown. There is minor general wear to the later wood mount, including minor evidence of past worming behind Christ's head. There is a slightly corroded metal loop at the top.

Stylistically, this relief is related to the Ecce Homos that came from the workshop of Hermanos García in Granada. Specifically, compare with the bust of 'Hospital de Mujeres' in Cádiz and the figure of half length, also in terracotta, from the 'Cartuja' in Granada (see Romero Torres et al, op. cit.)
