Overall, the condition of both mortars is good, with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is greening to the surface, in particular to the interior of the shorter mortar. There are some fissures around the handle and around the bottom, and there is a patch for reinforcement to the underside of the handle. There is a minor fissure to the other mortar, running vertically next to one of the protruding rims, which has also been reinforced. There are nicks and scratches to the surface throughout, and there are dents to the feet of both mortars.
