Overall the condition of the marble is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface, consistent with age. There is minor veining to the marble, consistent with the material, in particular to the proper left shoulder, above the proper left eye and to the drapery at the proper left breast. There are a few very small naturally occurring inclusions, including to the proper right side of the nose and the drapery on the proper right side. There is a filled inclusion to the drapery on the proper left side. There are minor chips and abrasions, in particular to the edges of the drapery and the truncation. There are further minor chips to the bottom of the bust where it meets the socle. The condition of the base is good. There are chips, abrasions and minor losses to the top white marble section, notably a loss at the front right corner. There are further small chips and abrasions to the bottom white marble and black marble sections. There are further minor chips and abrasions to the edges of the blue john section.
