Overall the condition of the wood is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are a few minor losses, including to the sea monster's tail, the woman's toes on the proper right foot, her fingers on the proper right hand, her hair, and the tip of her nose. There is some stable splitting to the wood, consistent with the material, in particular to the proper left side of the monster's head. The woman's head is reattached and some residue is visible at the neck. There is some rubbing at the high points, revealing the wood underneath the dark patina.
