Condition

The canvas is lined. A decorative image reads well. Craquelure throughout. Some minor frame abrasions along edges. There are what appear to be two strengthened old tear repairs: one in an L shape at center left, which runs from the lodge of the tree until reaching the sky, and another thin line which runs vertically for about 3in in the clouds at lower center right. Some retouches are visible to the naked eye, like a spot on the leaves of the tree at center left, and another on the clouds at upper center right. A spot of loss is upper center, on the leaves. Inspection under UV shows some retouches to the figures, though further reading is impeded due to a milky varnish. Offered in a giltwood frame.
