拍品資料及來源

These delightful and charming, rapidly drawn, sketches belong to a small group of landscape studies, all with the same dimensions, which were once probably part of the same sketchbook. The drawings were likely to have been executed during Van Goyen's travels in the Southern Netherlands and can be dated to circa 1645-50.  Another example is in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris and two were formerly in the collection of Curt Otto in Leipzig.1 The cottage depicted from different angles in these two sheets also appears on one of the pages of a sketchbook dated to 1644.2 The second sketch in this lot, of an overgrown garden wall, was eventually used by Van Goyen, as the basis for two larger compositions, approximately ten years later, in 1652-53.3
