Condition

Laid down. Made up in a number of areas: upper left corner, upper right section and section at the centre right margin. A number of creases throughout. Ink stains, possibly studio stains at lower right corner. Chalk relatively strong. Sold unframed.

This lively and dramatic drawing is a copy after the left section of Rubens' painting of the The Woman of the Apocalypse, commissioned in 1625 for the high altarpiece of Freising Cathedral and now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (fig. 1).1 1.
