拍品資料及來源

This finely preserved sheet, executed by the prominent 18th Century Dutch mathematician, Nicolas Struyk, is a highly characteristic example of the intricate watercolor studies of butterflies and other items of natural history, that Struyk drew for his own pleasure, during the course of his life. Other surviving sheets, such as Struyk's Four Beetles and a Flying Stink Bug1 possess similar dimensions to the Gordon drawing having, apparently, all originated from an album that bore a title-page inscribed: VERTOONING der INLANSCHE INSECTEN Ao 1715.  N:Struijk.
