Condition
Hinge mounted in two places along the upper edge to a modern decorative mount. The sheet has discolored somewhat and there are some old repairs to the upper right quarter, the right half of the upper edge and the upper left corner. There are some small nicks to the extremities. The watercolor remains in relatively good condition throughout with the image strong. Sold unframed.

Although the specific prototype by Egbert van Drielst (1745-1818) on which this drawing is based is not known, the composition is typical of that artist's watercolors made in the province of Drenthe, and specifically in the region of the village of Eext.
