拍品資料及來源

The fluvial landscapes that criss-cross much of the Netherlands, offered Van Strij innumerable vistas, of the sort depicted here, from which to seek inspiration. Though some of his drawings, as noted by Niemeijer, are more topographical in their approach, the freedom found in the composition of our drawing is also typical of Van Strij's work, and can be closely compared to another watercolor, dating to circa 1800, similar in both size and subject, in the Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam.2 1. See J.W. Niemeijer and R.J.A. te Rijdt, Aquarelles hollandaises du XVIIIe siécle, exhib. cat., Zwolle, 1990, pp. 140-141, no. 63
