Condition
Window mounted to a modern decorative backing. There are some tiny foxing marks to small areas of the sky. The drawing is in otherwise absolutely superb condition, with the medium fresh and vibrant throughout and the image strong. Sold in a modern wood frame.

This finely preserved sheet, executed, predominantly, in black ink and gray wash depicts a sweeping landscape with two figures carrying baskets, while a third smokes his pipe. To the left of the composition a carriage makes its way down a rutted path towards what appears to be a tavern, outside of which other travelers and their horses, are being fed and watered (see also lot 104).
