Condition

Glued in all four corners to old backing sheet. Right edge irregular. Some very light surface dirt and foxing but overall condition of ink and wash very good and fresh.

The tentative attribution to Van Cleve was Van Regteren Altena's.  Although the artist is best known for his Roman landscapes, the technique seen here is not dissimilar to that of those drawings, so the suggestion should not be dismissed.
