拍品資料及來源

Roydon Hall is located in the village of East Peckham, Kent and was built by Thomas Roydon (1482-1557) during the reign of King Henry VIII.

Works by Henry Gilder are rare. One is held in the Victoria & Albert Museum and another, entitled View from Rushmore Hill, with Mereworth beyond, Sevenoaks, Kent, was sold at Sotheby’s in July 2011 (£9,375). Gilder may have been in the employ, as a servant, of Thomas Sandby R.A., for when he exhibited at the Royal Academy, which he did between 1773 and 1778, he described his address as ‘At Mr Thomas Sandby’s, Windsor Great Park.’1 1.
