Condition

The canvas is stretched over board. There is possible blooming to the black pigment towards the right edge. There is evidence of a discoloured varnish, most visible to areas of white pigment. There is a spot of staining towards the lower edge at the centre. There is minor surface dirt that seems attached to the varnish and minor accretions to the paint surface. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. The nature of the vanish makes for a difficult reading under ultraviolet light. There is a small area of fluorescence and possible retouching to the lower right corner with instances of fluorescence elsewhere that seem in keeping with the Artist's materials. The work is floated within a stained wooden box frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
