Condition

The sheet is adhered to the mount with two strips of adhesive tape. The upper edge has been slightly unevenly torn and the left edge slightly unevenly cut, most likely in keeping with the Artist's working methods and not visible in the present mount. The sheet undulates in places. There are a number of creases to the sheet, most prominently a diagonal crease to the nude's chest. There is evidence of water damage to the upper left quadrant, with more minor instances elsewhere including across the verso of the sheet. There are handling marks to the edges of the sheet and one faint diagonal scuff at the left edge. There is light staining in line with the mount. There is light surface dirt. The work is window mounted and held behind glass in a stained wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
