Condition

The mount is adhered together, but the sheet is not laid down and undulates very slightly, in keeping with the Artist's materials. There are one or two very light scuffs towards the left corner, with one or two possible further more minor instances elsewhere. There is some light staining to the sheet concentrated around areas of impasto paint in the chateau. There are very fine lines of craquelure to the black pigment in a small number of places, only visible upon very close inspection. There are one or two instances of studio matter and detritus, and some very light surface dust. This excepting, the work appears to be in excellent overall condition, with strong passages of colour throughout. The work is window mounted and held behind glass in a gilt painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
