The workshop of Henri Picq was founded circa 1888 and became known for creating jewellery of the highest quality craftsmanship. He caught the attention of Paris's Haute Joaillierie and started working with Cartier in 1900. Over the next two decades he worked almost exclusively for Cartier and created some of their most remarkable jewels. He was especially known for his skillful manipulation of platinum. Cartier “was said to use the best platinum in Paris. It was renowned for its white, shimmering surface, an alloy of which the Picq workshop was especially proud”, as Nadelhoffer noted in his book on Cartier. During the 1920s and 1930s, the workshop created many of their iconic ‘Tutti Frutti’ jewels as well as some of their superlative Art Deco pieces. Around this time the workshop of Henri Picq branched out and started working with other jewellery houses such as Lacloche and Ostertag, while preserving its commitment to Cartier.

Whether signed by Cartier or not, a jewel with the renowned Henri Picq mark is guaranteed to be not only beautiful to look at but also beautifully made.
