Condition

The sheet is fully laid down onto a board. The edges have been cut, most likely in keeping with the Artist's intentions. There is a vertical tear to the upper edge of the sheet to the left of centre and one further smaller tear to the extreme upper right corner. There are a small number of faint creases to the upper left quadrant. There is a very small fleck of loss to the upper left lilac butterfly and one or two possible more minor flecks elsewhere. There is some staining to the edges of the sheet, in line with a previous mount, and flecks of foxing throughout the sheet. There is one stain towards the centre of the lower edge and surface dirt and matter in places. The work is held in a painted wooden frame behind glass. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
