Condition

The sheet is fully laid down to a conservation backing support sheet. This sheet is affixed to the mount with two strips of adhesive tape along the upper edge. To the main sheet there are two collage elements in keeping with the Artist's working methods, both of which appear fully secure. The mount covers approximately an inch of the sheet at all edges. The paper has been unevenly torn to the left and right edges and unevenly cut to the lower edge, in keeping with the Artist's intentions and not visible in the present mount. There is a probable repaired tear to the centre of the right edge and a number of other smaller tears to the left edge, not visible in the present mount. There is a probable repaired circular section to the work, around the central woman's head, and possible other repairs elsewhere, some of these are most likely in keeping with the Artist's original execution. There are a few flecks of loss to the bowl and vase to the lower right and to the woman on the right's proper right arm, with probable flecks of loss elsewhere. There are instances of studio matter. There is staining in line with a previous mount. The work is window mounted and held behind glass in a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
