the central plaque signed J. Pascault depicting the apotheosis of Venus, surrounded by eight smaller roundels painted with Cupids.

Condition

In very good condition overall, with only minor rubbing and some signs of oxidation to the gilding of the bronzes, mainly on the base. Base with some areas of green staining. Ebonised frieze with some craquelure, and scattered losses to ebonizing on base. Some minor nicks and stains to the wood surface on the top, and an age crack and slight lifting to one banding on the frieze. Scattered small age cracks to the column support but structurally sound. Gilding and enamel surfaces of porcelain plaques in excellent condition. With a glass top.
