the ovoid body supported by a tapering foot rising to a short straight neck, the body brilliantly painted with cockerels, hens and chicks among rockwork, surrounded by blossoming peony and prunus branches, the neck and foot with pink diaper bands reserved with floral panels, the cover painted with floral sprigs and surmounted by a knop decorated with flower petals

Condition

There is a fine three pronged star crack to the base of the jar with the longest prong measuring approx 2 in. (5.1 cm) , and one hairline measuring 1 1/4 in. (3.9 cm) extending from the mouth rim down the neck.There is also one tiny chip to the top edge of the rim measuring 1/8 in. (0.3 cm) There are some flaking/ firing faults and wear to the enamels, notably to the blue diaper panels on both the jar and the cover. Lower half of the body with some fine crazing and discoloration particularly on the green enamels. The cover with a section missing at the rim measuring approx. 3 1/2 in. (9 cm) across with an old and discolored made up restoration. The ball part of the knop has been reaffixed.
