Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The media layer is stable. The extreme edges of the board present light wear and handling marks, and the work is lightly soiled throughout. Please note: the following descriptions assume that the "lower" section of the painting contains the human figures, and the "upper" section contains the animal and eye symbols. Three horizontal indentations measuring 1/2 inch each in length are present along the extreme lower center edge of the board. The work is lightly soiled. Under raking light, a varnish becomes apparent. A diagonal scratch measuring 2 1/2 inches in length is present at the lower left edge of the board, however, the surrounding media layer is stable. A 1 inch horizontal band of rubbing and minor paint loss is present at the extreme upper center edge, near the group of eyes. Minor, stable areas of spiderweb craquelure are present in the following locations: three one-inch areas in the upper left quadrant; one 1/2 inch area in the upper right quadrant. A fingerprint is present in the upper right quadrant two inches from the edge, which may be inherent. A 1/4 inch spot of paint loss is present at the center left edge of the board, at the top of the clock.
