the tall slightly rounded sides rising to an angled shoulder, columnar neck, and galleried rim, the body painted in bright cobalt tones with a narrative scene set outdoors with a supplicant kneeling before a scholar-official seated in a canopied wheeled sedan accompanied by two attendants and a warrior lifting a long polearm and preparing to charge at an opposing warrior advancing on horseback, a curtain in the background emphasizing the theatricality, the shoulder with shaped cartouches enclosing peony sprigs reserved against a diaper ground, bands of dots, crenulation, and chevrons at the neck and rim, now drilled and fitted for electricity

Condition

The vase is drilled at the base and has a small chip to the galleried rim. The lamping rod is adhered to the drill hole. Otherwise the vase is in generally good condition with only minor expected surface wear and minor firing imperfections.
