Lacquer top with craquelure and old marks to the surface, with a later protective layer of shellac that has become slightly clouded in places. Age cracks to square column and one leg near junction with the base; another leg re-glued to base. Telescopic mechanism functions but is somewhat stiff and coudl benefit from attention to be able to raise and lower more smoothly. Minor scuffs and marks to mahogany consistent with age.

Héricourt was not only an ébéniste in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, but he also opened a shop in the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré selling his work, maintaining an extremely large stock that required several days to liquidate in the auction of its contents after his death.
