the russet iron kabuto formed of thirty two parallel plates with a central raised rim, gilt maedate [forecrest] in the form of the sun, mabisashi [peak] with undulating cord-rimmed edge, applied eyebrows, five tier kittsuke-zane shikoro with black sugake-odoshi lacing, the fukigaeshi [turnbacks] with crossed oak-leaf mon

Condition

The rim of the helmet bowl may be a later edition. The bowl has some wear and slight pitting. The lacquer of the turnbacks as can be seen in the image is slightly cracked and repaired. The lacing to the shikiro has worn and frayed and the black lacquer has some repairs. Please note all armours by the nature of their use and age have some old wear overall.
