Condition
The canvas is not lined. Inspection under UV light reveals an uneven varnish which prevents the light from fully penetrating, and two spots of retouching; one at the top of the sitter's head and a further spot at the centre-right of the lower edge. There is evidence of shrinkage to the pigment throughout the green dress of the sitter and some further minor shrinkage to the lower section of the sitter's book. Otherwise, this work appears to be in overall good condition.
