This work is in very good condition. The canvas is not lined. There is some scattered hairline craquelure throughout, as well as a visible faint horizontal stretcher mark. The work is richly textured and the impasto is well-preserved. Under UV light, there are some very fine strokes of inpainting along the upper edge in the blue pigments, as well as along the bottom edge, near the horse's hooves and in the bottom right corner. There are some fine strokes of inpainting in the clothing of the figure at left, and one pindot stroke in the horse he is riding. There are a couple of pindot strokes of inpainting in the arm of the figure at right. There is a possible area of inpainting along the center bottom of the composition, also visible under normal light.
