Condition
Very good condition overall with minor chips to the edges and the high points at some places. There is some surface dirt consistent with age and handling. A fixing hole is visible to the upper edge of the medallion and a hairline firing fissure visible in the background, just above the head of the sitter. There are minor chips the edges and high points of the ebonised wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
Fils de Marc de Beauvau, prince de Caron et du Saint Empire Romain, administrateur de Toscane, Juste fut nommé colonnel de la Garde de Lorraine et Gouverneur de Bar-le-Duc. A la mort de la première épouse, Marie-Sophie-Charlotte de La Tour d'Auvergne, il épousa Marie-Sylvie de Rohan-Chabot. En 1757, il fut nommé chevalier par Louis XV. Il fut Gouverneur du Languedoc, puis de Provence et devint Maréchal de France en 1789. Il entra à l'Académie Française en 1771.
