Anthony Gordon Elson was born in Worthing, Sussex in 1935, worked for William Comyns Ltd. in 1964-1968, bought Blunt & Wray, an ecclesiastical manufacturer, which he sold in 1981, then set up Silversmiths Workshop in Clerkenwell, later moved to Sussex, designing silver for Garrards and others. The Goldsmiths' Co. has a jug of 1970 and a cigarette case of 1974. He became chairman of the Council of Crafts at the Goldsmiths' Co. and executed commissions for the City of London, London Stock Exchange, city livery companies, universities, cathedrals, and the King of Nepal.
