The inscription reads: "Belongs to the Holy Society of Benevolent Deeds here, in the holy community of Treuchtlingen, and these are their names:..." followed by a list of names. Treuchtlingen is located in Bavaria. The pair to this finial, dated 1808, is at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. The finials had been separated before the 1930s, when Harlevuger documented only the dated example (now in the Israel Museum) in the synagogue at Treuchtlingen.
