A charming account of life in Kashmir, likely composed by a the wife of a ministerThe diarist makes frequent reference to "Dick" (presumably her husband) and his angling attempts, a variety of contemporary events, such as the Alliance Bank failure of 1923, and in elegant detail describes the local landscape and culture in the Kashmir region. In an entry dated 11 May 1923, the author writes: "D & I called on the few houseboats, rather nice people. In the afternoon we drove into Islamabad, and visited a tank full of sacred fish, they are so tame they eat Chutpatties [sic] out of ones hand. Then we climbed a high hill just behind the town and had a gorgeous view from the top...and the valley looking like an inland sea, all rice fields."
