The British Special Air Service (SAS) was founded in 1941 as a Special Operations division of the British Army and has remained ever since one of the most respected military organisations in the world. In spite of its absolute secrecy, the unit is rumoured to employ 500 active soldiers and is infamous for its extreme recruitment and training methods. In 2012 Rolex issued a limited series special order of Explorer II ref. 216570, exclusively retailed to SAS members. The present lot is part of it and has been preserved in like-new, unworn condition, retaining its original protective stickers. The SAS motto “Who Dares Wins” is engraved on the case band while the back proudly displays the SAS logo, a knife with wings, matched by a personal serial number bearing the original owner’s initials.
This fresh to the market exclusive timepiece comes with all its original accessories and packaging.

This Special Air Service Explorer II represents the long lasting relationship between Rolex and international military forces, making it an extremely desirable watch for any discerning collector.
