DIAMOND TIARA, FÉLIX FALLON, 1870S

Set with five graduated wild rose motifs, set with rose diamonds, the three central flowers mounted en tremblant, to a plain frame bound with brown ribbon, inner circumference approximately 240mm, floral motifs detachable; together with five brooch fittings, five hairpin fittings and one pendant fitting, the bale set with rose diamonds, to a later belcher link chain, length approximately 390mm, fitted monogrammed box stamped Fallon.

Dog rose motifs numbered 2, 3, 4 and 5. Central motif missing number. Largest motif approximately 40mm diameter. Diamonds bright and lively, total weight difficult to gauge due to inaccessibility of rose cut diamonds' depth. Largest rose diamond approximately 8.2 x 7.1mm. Tremblant setting springs in good condition, outer two roses fixed. Central spring causing central motif to list slightly off centre, would benefit from tightening. Glue residue on spring, though spring beneath seems intact. Motifs safely converting into hair pins and brooches via fittings provided. Metal with scratches, areas of tarnish and discolouration. Ribbon binding of steel tiara frame in good condition, slightly fraying in places. Brooch and hair pin fittings in good working order. Box with baronial crown over initials AG. Gross weight of tiara approximately 69.4 grams. Overall in good condition, commensurate with age and wear.
