NATURAL PEARL AND DIAMOND BROOCH AND A PAIR OF NATURAL PEARL AND EMERALD EARRINGS, LATE 19TH CENTURY

The brooch of floral design, set with cushion-shaped and rose diamonds and drop-shaped natural pearls; the earrings each set with circular- and step-cut emeralds, the ribbon bow motif surmount suspending a pear-shaped drop with a natural pearl swing centre, post fittings.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 101655, dated 10th August 2018, stating that the pearls in the earrings measure approximately 7.20-8.35 x 10.80mm and 7.15-7.80 x 10.80mm, weighing approximately 4.2 carats (17 grains) and 3.9 carats (16 grains) respectively. The pearls in the brooch (sent unmounted) measure approximately 6.99-8.21 x 10.32mm and 6.85-8.15 x 10.35mm, weighing 4.418 carats (17.67 grains) and 4.078 carats (16.31 grains). All are natural, saltwater. Pearls of cream to white body colour, with predominantly white overtones, some areas of unevenness, pitting and banding to nacre surfaces. Pearls in earrings drilled through entire length. Emeralds green, transparent, with typical inclusions visible under magnification, some areas of chipping. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.50 - 2.00 carats. Brooch measuring approximately 49 x 30mm, earrings each approximately 40mm long. Metal with discolouration and scratches consistent to wear. Earrings with later post fittings and backs. Brooch fitting closing securely. Combined gross weight approximately 21 grams.
