描述
Designed in the Chinese taste, of rectangular outline on a splayed foot, the exterior applied with panels of black and cinnabar red lacquer and accented with rose diamonds, the hinged lid additionally inset with a stylised shou medallion, onyx pyramids and sections of carnelian, the annular handle of carved onyx, opening to reveal a plain interior, measuring approximately 205 x 91 x 59mm, signed Cartier, indistinct French export maker's marks.
Condition
Stamped Cartier signature to lower left of interior of lid. Lower edge of back panel on exterior box and lower edge of interior of lid stamped with indistinct export maker's marks and 'Made in France'. Restored. Lacquer with evidence of restoration, particularly concentrated to edges of panels on lid. Onyx pyramids slightly chipped, mostly intact. Scratches and wear to lacquer. Metal with scratches and areas of discoloration. Hinge in good working order, onyx ring handle in good condition. Gross weight approximately 839 grams.
