Modelled as a songbird perched on a branch, its head formed of a natural blister pearl measuring approximately 9.1 x 10.5mm, its body set with circular-cut and carved rubies and brilliant-cut diamonds, the branch additionally set with a triangular diamond, signed Cartier, numbered, French assay marks and maker's marks, fitted case stamped Cartier, numbered.

Condition

Reverse signed Cartier Paris, numbered 012619, stamped with French assay marks for 18 carat gold and platinum and maker's mark for Cartier. Natural blister pearl of white to greyish body colour, slightly baroque drop shape with pink and green overtones, with areas of pitting and banding to nacre, and areas of worked nacre to reverse. Rubies deep pinkish red, transparent to translucent, with typical inclusions visible to the naked eye, some surface-reaching, some areas of minor chipping and wear to facet edges. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated colour H-I, estimated clarity VS on average. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.10 - 1.30 carats. Brooch fitting closing securely. Light scratches to stone and metal surfaces consistent with wear. In very good condition. Overall dimensions approximately 49 x 41mm, gross weight approximately 20.4 grams. Fitted case stamped Cartier, interior with matching number 012619 underneath removable cushion.
