Four letters written over thirty years of a momentous life. The earliest letter here is written at the time of the Congress of Vienna, confirming that Wellington will dine with Prince von Metternich at 8:00 in the evening on 16 March 1815. The second letter, written 2 September 1832 to George B. [surname illegible] in Brussels, concerns financial matters and a letter which was not received by Wellington, causing a certain amount of confusion.
Writing on 20 October 1839 to "My dear Stuart[?]," Wellington remarks on the honors bestowed on him, "…it was determined that my pension[?] could not be altered. I have been happy to have it; I am much obliged of them. I have had plenty of Patronage all my Life. I know what it is. I have no desire to have any more." The final letter, written 11 October 1846 to M. Brequet[?] in Paris, ordering two watches: one of less than 17 lignes in diameter and another of 13 lignes ("Le plus petit que vous avez").
