A buoyant example of Steinese, written from liberated Paris. In this card, written January 1945, Stein responds to photographer Myron Wood (b. 1921), who has evidently expressed an interest in her 1931 book How to Write, which was republished in the U.S. during the war. "How to Write is a book of xamples, trying to make paragraphs into sentences and sentences into paragraphs, trying to make vocabulary without meaning and meaning without vocabulary, in short it is a series of xperiments, and more of them are successful and more not, glad to hear you are interested, the floods are not bad here, but down in the country near the Rhone they did an awful lot of harm, well perhaps not so long you will come and see us."
