拍品資料及來源

The woodcuts for this edition of “Crusoe” were originally created by Edward Gordon Craig in 1924; however the artist was obsessive in nature, and continued to work on the designs well into the 1960s. This 1979 edition is the first published appearance of the finished artwork. Craig was introduced to woodcutting and engraving in the 1890s by artist William Nicholson. The edition includes an introduction by Craig’s son on his father’s relationship with the art-form, as well as three essays by the artist on Robinson Crusoe.
