This pair of albums is part of a series of eight albums (lots 365-371) that appear to have been assembled by Sir Charles Lyell's nephew Leonard, 1st Baron Lyell (1850-1926). The albums mostly comprise letters written to members of the extended Lyell and Horner families, including Frances Horner, sister of Mary (Lady Lyell), who married the naturalist Sir Charles Bunbury.
