Condition
Good overall condition. The patina presents with a few surface scratches and instances of wear, including a few losses of patina. The back of the head presents with some very light oxidation. The sides and back of the head present with previous poor attemps to re-patinate some wear and losses, resulting in scattered large darker traces. The head is fixed to its marble base. The marble base presents with some minute to small chips along the edges and the corners, not extremely visually distractive.

This bronze is one of four casts : Two are in the collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Dijon and the Musée François Pompon, Saulieu. The plaster version was sold in 1996. The present lot, which has remained in the family of Henry Martinet since its creation, is offered today by his great-niece.
