This impressive mammoth tusk dates from the Middle and Upper Paleolithic era up until the extinction of the Neanderthals more than 12,000 years ago. The mammoth, the largest land mammal of all time, boasts two impressive tusks which augment the imagined prowess of this mythic-like creature. Originating from the extensive regions of modern-day Russia, this naturally curved mammoth tusk is intact and exceptionally rare, as is any specimen of the extinct animal.

Exceptional for its gigantic size, the present tusk probably once belonged to an enormous male mammoth. It was excavated from the permafrost with the original patina well-preserved.
