SIMON HANTAÏ | Untitled (double sided)

The canvas is mounted on a double-sided stretcher. The red and black side is an "Etude", oil on canvas, executed by the artist circa 1969 (as confirmed by the Archives Simon Hantai). The other side is a "Blanc", executed later in 1973. Both sides are signed with initials and dated 73. The surface of the canvas presents classic fold marks and tiny lacks of paint in line with the artist's folding process. As visible in the catalogue illustration, and due to the artist technique the pink acrylic from the "Blancs" side is slightly visible on the red and black "Etude" side. Similarly, the red oil's binder is visible on the "Blancs" side. The work is in very good condition.
