"Within the context of factory activity, Andy Warhol and Gerard Malanga worked together on a range of projects. In 1964-65, photographs of deaths and disasters stockpiled by Warhol, particularly car crashes, were copied on a Themofax machine at the factory. Thermofax paper is chemically coated to register a heat transfer from the original; the copied image is produced in sepia. William Lunich (Billy Name), a Factory resident and participant, made the Thermofaxed copies. In the space underneath each picture, Malanga wrote or typed his poems” (Exhibition Catalogue, Houston, The Menil Collection, 'Andy Warhol Death and Disaster,' 1989, p. 24).
